Howden Re selects Dylogy to accelerate and strengthen reinsurance contract analysis with AI

Howden Re, the global reinsurance, capital markets, and strategic advisory division of Howden, a global insurance intermediary group, is using Wording Analyzer, the agentic AI solution developed by Dylogy, to strengthen its service offering for insurers. Already live in production at Howden Re France, the solution will soon be rolled out to other entities within the group, building on the results achieved so far.

Paris, September 21, 2026 – Faced with the growing complexity of reinsurance contracts and a steady rise in document volumes, Dylogy, a French AI startup, today announced the deployment of its SaaS solution Wording Analyzer at Howden Re. Built for insurers, reinsurers, and brokers, the application speeds up contract analysis by simplifying the extraction of key clauses and document comparison, while applying automated control rules and actions to make decision-making more reliable.

Through a solution tailored to the specific demands of insurance and reinsurance, Howden Re is expanding its service offering to insurers and pushing past the limits of traditional approaches by significantly reducing contractual uncertainty.

Addressing a major challenge in reinsurance

Reinsurance programs rely on hundreds of pages of contractual documentation that must be reviewed in detail, under increasingly tight deadlines. In this context, quickly spotting a non-compliant clause, catching an inconsistency in exclusions, or comparing multiple versions of a contract is a major challenge for brokers and insurers alike.

Contract review today remains largely manual and based on individual judgment. While specialist expertise is still essential, Howden Re France set out to improve team productivity, the reliability of analyses, and the depth of the recommendations given to its experts, with the goal of raising the quality of service delivered to clients.

With that in mind, Howden Re selected Wording Analyzer, Dylogy's agentic solution built to read contractual and underwriting files for the insurance and reinsurance market.

AI built with industry experts

The partnership grew out of a shared belief: generic AI cannot meet the demands of the (re)insurance business.

Starting in summer 2025, the Howden Re France and Dylogy teams worked closely together to adapt Wording Analyzer to the broker's operational needs. To address the range of needs raised by internal teams and insurer clients, several rounds of improvements were made iteratively and tested directly with end users. Dylogy's responsiveness and speed of execution proved key to building trust, delivering a successful project, and convincing Howden Re to continue and expand the collaboration.

Another differentiator: Dylogy's ability to support international rollouts. Already serving clients outside France, including in the UK and Bermuda, the company is equipped to support the solution's international expansion, with early wins in Italy, Greece, and the UK.

Concrete benefits for teams and insurers

By automating the most time-consuming document work, Wording Analyzer frees up Howden Re teams to spend more time advising and supporting their clients. Beyond the substantial productivity gains, what gives Howden Re a distinct edge at the negotiating table is the systematic nature of the checks, better-informed decisions driven by AI agent suggestions, and the ability to consolidate and generate comparative analyses across the full body of contracts in the market.

With Wording Analyzer, Howden Re's teams and their clients can now:

  • Analyze a larger volume of contracts while focusing on the most complex wording issues
  • Compare their clauses against Howden Re's reference library and market benchmarks
  • Build benchmarks on how specific clauses are used, giving them a competitive edge in negotiations with reinsurers
  • Standardize controls, covering underwriting rules, internal control checks, and legal playbooks, across an entire portfolio, and track their impact
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and points requiring attention in underwriting files, with relevant recommendations on what action to take
"Our goal wasn't just to speed up contract analysis; it was to build lasting value for our clients, starting with greater certainty around when coverage is triggered. With Dylogy, we found a partner who understands the specifics of our business, iterates quickly with our teams, and can support us as we roll this out internationally."
Thomas Kroely, Head of Treaty, Howden Re France
"This collaboration with Howden Re shows that an AI project in reinsurance can deliver value almost immediately, provided it's built around expert feedback and the specifics of the business, without giving up our ability to scale across multiple lines of business."
Aurélien Couloumy, Co-founder and CEO, Dylogy

An innovation that strengthens Howden Re's value proposition

Beyond what's outlined above, the solution is part of a broader strategy to enrich the service offering Howden Re provides to insurers, adding more quality, security, and depth to contract analysis.

This approach is already delivering concrete results: insurers and mutual insurers explicitly cite access to an innovative contract analysis service as a reason for choosing to work with Howden Re France.

The strong results achieved by Howden Re France led the partnership to be elevated to the level of Howden Re International, with a progressive rollout of the tool now underway across its offices worldwide.

Looking ahead, this collaboration also opens the door to new use cases around claims file analysis and the level of coverage tied to an insurance contract, another key area of activity for Dylogy.
